I’m not sure why, but I hardly ever talk about the herbal teas that I offer. Herbal teas are my love language. Speaking to you through their taste and gently finding the place with you which you’ve beckoned for healing.
Herbal infusions are intimate, they take time, but they’re a potent form of self care and healing. Taking time to boil the water and allowing the herbs steep to their maximum potency, 20 minutes, sometimes 4 hours or overnight. Sipping on an herbal infusion is called for when you need space to connect within or for certain ailments where drinking is the best modality. Ailments of the respiratory tract, digestive system, of the urinary tract or nervous system. Some herbs properties are best extracted in water, like skullcap or marshmallow. Skullcap used in this way is suited as a nervous system hypnotic, calming & quieting the mind down through the body… I love a nighttime infusion of lemon balm, milky oat tops & skullcap to soothe nerves and digestion before bed. I infuse the herbs in no more than 8 ounces of water at this time of night.
Preparing herbal tea infusions give us a chance to connect directly to the plants. Creating a sacred moment, naming them one by one as you spoon the herbs into your vessel giving thanks to Mother Earth and the growers of the plants. Giving thanks to the bees for their honey as you spoon it into your teacup. Giving thanks to yourself for taking time to nourish your body and soul. Set intentions and be present with each sip, enhancing the medicines potency as well as your own.
Tune into the magic of herbal tea infusions.
